When I was a little kid I remember pounding on the bathroom door trying to get to my mom. "Can't I get a moment of peace and quiet?!" She would plead. I didn't understand then, but I sure understand now. I used to think that my only time away from it all was when I locked myself in the bathroom. I am now convinced that there is no such thing as "bathroom peace". Even if you can't see them, you can hear them. Sometimes very loudly pounding and whaling at the top of their lungs for you. That's one thing but what's even more dangerous is when you CAN'T hear them. So, you think you have peace, but really you should be scared. I took my few moments for myself this morning and it was nice and quiet...to my detriment. When I emerged from the bathroom I found my toddler pouring baby cereal all over some moving boxes in the living room. She dumped not one but two boxes all the way out. It is all over.
In the short time it has taken me to write this blog, my toddler has also managed to try and put Brooklyn's pants on and fall. She put both feet through the same leg of the pants, stood up and tried to walk, and stumbled around until she took a hard fall.
What is she doing right now? She is now sitting on my lap stuffing her fingers in my mouth clamoring for attention. "Mommy, Mow?" "Mommy, cloths?" "Ouch!" "Sing Sing Sing." I guess that means this blog is over. I'll probably look back and think all of this is hilarious. For right now, I'm mildly amused. :)
To all of you moms who are searching for "bathroom peace", I am sorry to say that it doesn't exist.
