New Home

A lot has happened in the last couple of months...including a move.  We moved a few streets down to get away from the foot traffic behind our house and to be closer to our friends.  It has been a lot of work but very good for us.  Moving us forced me to go through, organize, and get rid of a lot of stuff.  The house is not completely put together yet but there has been a lot of progress made...especially with the yard.  I built a small deck in the front yard to cover a tree stump that stuck out like a sore thumb.  The cool thing about this deck is that all the lumber was free!  I found it by the dumpster.  It's only during college life that you can get away with projects like these.

I am also giving the plant thing a shot.  I went to a little garden seminar that inspired me to plant flowers and vegetables.  I'm pretty excited about my little gardens and am hopeful for an over grown garden.  So far my plants have survived a week and a recent cold freeze!  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

My most recent projects include pruning and curtains.  I spent a bunch of time today pruning a couple of enormously overgrown lilac bushes.  My shoulders, forearms and hands are sore and achy and I don't want to think of how they will feel in the morning; especially since I'm not finished.  As for the curtains, I bought some and cut the bottoms off so I would have two sets: one for the living room and the other for the kitchen window.  My sister Brittany gave me the idea to add ribbon for a little more flair.  I used that sewing tape to iron the ribbon to the curtains and it worked perfectly!  I can't imagine how my curtains would look if I had to sew the ribbon on.  I'm pretty excited about them.

The family is doing well.  Instead of having a relaxing summer, we're having a typical overworked summer.  Jaret is working at Rocky Mountain Bank and doing a masonry job in his spare time.  He just took the LSAT on Monday and hopes to see high scores in a few weeks.  I've been playing mom and wife and fit a little work into the cracks.  I work at Above and Beyond Property Management on Jaret's day off, officiate basketball here and there, and pick up cleaning jobs when they come along.  As for Holland, she's a big cutie.    I say big because she's growing like a weed.  She's in the 95th percentile for her height and manages to keep her weight below average with all the exploring she does.  It seems like everything happened with her over night.  She's got 3 sharp teeth, crawls, climbs stairs, walks while holding onto her push toy, and throws a tantrum worthy of a two year old.  She will eat just about anything you put in front of her with an exception to peas.  She doesn't really like them.  Hmmmm.  She really likes rocks and dirt though.

Welp, that's speedy update.
