So, we did it. We are taking the plunge and building then buying a house! We're going to build over in Four Corners in the North Star subdivision! Our house will be small but very cute! What will it look like? Welp, you'll just have to come visit us when it's done! ...I'll probably post a pic if we get one ;) 3 beds, 2 baths, 1500sf....and we are going to have our own little yard!!!!!
It's been quite the process to get here. About a month ago Jaret turned to me in church and said something along the lines of, "I think it's time for us to buy a house". I didn't have any complaints! So, we started searching and thinking and talking to people. Nothing was quite feeling like it should be our home. I've been scoping the valley out for over a year now and have had my eye on a lot in North Star that I kept on coming back to. "Wouldn't it be great if we could build a house on this lot?!" I thought in my mind...just about 5 times a day. (No, we wont be building on that lot because it's a little more pricey, but we're going to build down the street along a beautiful tree line!) Anyhoo, I started talking to builders I knew and builders other people knew. I was convinced we had to build a house with a basement. Every reply we got from the builders we spoke to was pretty much the same, "your too poor to have a basement, even if it's unfinished". That's what they thought, anyway. I finally had someone help me find someone who said it could be possible. So, I neglected my kids while drawing up something that would be super cost effective to build. Yeah, I think my drawing looked good and the floor plan was great...but the builder didn't agree. So, we said, "you pick the plan then". While that builder was crunching numbers and doing whatever it was he was doing, Jaret and I chat about this 1500sf, single level home. When it comes down to it, this smaller house just feels right. Do I miss the idea of a basement? Of course, but this new place will suit us just fine!
LOL, the other builder just called me...that's all.
That's my quick summary of the craziness. I had fun designing my own house and drawing it up but I'll love being in someone else s design too because it will eventually be my own!...in 30 years ;)
