911

My sisters are such great examples to me.  I just read the words my oldest sister, Holly, shared about her thoughts of the events that took place ten years ago yesterday.  (I actually stole this photo from her blog without asking...I hope she will forgive me ;)  )  I remember where I was ten years ago yesterday.  It was my freshman year at Snow College and I was in my music class.  I remember a student saying something about a plane crashing into the world trade towers.  I had no clue what these world trade towers were and I certainly didn't believe that people had flown airplanes into them.  I remember walking into my apartment and sure enough, the news was filled with the footage of the unbelievable tragedy.  What a sad day.  The world changed that day.  More so for some then others.

Yesterday, as I stood in the airport waiting for a friend to return from Iraq I couldn't help but think of what a blessing it was to have someone return home that I cared when many did not and still do not get to see their loved ones walk through those airport doors.  I'm grateful for all who selflessly serve our country.  I'm grateful for the freedom that I am blessed with at the expense of others.  I am honored to be an American and I only hope that I can be a positive reflection of what this country is founded upon.

So, here's a thanks to all of you out there who are serving in the military, working at home, or contributing anywhere else and have sacrificed for the benefit of our sweet land of liberty.
