Our 2011 Easter Sunday was a success. It was very low key but I enjoyed it.
We all went to church as a family and I left feeling uplifted. It was just what I needed. Then we came home and took naps, popped some microwave fettuccine alfredo into the microwave and ate our "Easter Dinner". It tasted great!
The funnest part of the day was the little easter egg hunt we put together for Holland. I decided that Holland's life goal is to seek out sugar. She's constantly going through my purse and the house looking for anything sweet, including gum. She seems to be finely tuned and can find anything tucked away in the deepest corner. I believe that it is for this reason that she was so successful at her Easter Egg Hunt. She knew there was candy in each egg and for the first time in her short little life she had an attention span longer than 2 minutes. She probably collected 30 eggs and stuck it out to the last one. It was a lot of fun to watch her and I enjoyed seeing how excited she would get when she would find each egg. She would look around and then the light would go on and she would give the cutest little chuckle.
After we had the Easter Egg Hunt we played a game with our friends, the Adams. During our game we didn't go out of our way to monitor our child who was sitting on her little princess couch devouring her chocolate. Each egg had a piece of chocolate wrapped in foil and a few jelly beans. Most of the jelly beans ended up half chewed and spewed out on the floor. I was surprised that Holland was not interested in the jelly beans but I was not surprised at her excitement over the chocolate. She quickly tired of removing the wrappers from her treasures and decided to chew the chocolate with the wrappers on then spew the remainders out to rest next to the gooey jelly beans. She sealed the day with her chocolaty finger prints all over everything. Isn't she sweet?
I enjoyed spending the day with my family. The only thing I would have changed is that I wish we would have sat down and had a little thought on the Savior and the true meaning of Easter. I guess I'll remember that for next year.
