Ya know, if you would have asked me a year ago about being in a situation similar to what we're in right now I probably would have thought of all the reasons I would be discontent. Now that our family is here today with a different job then we though, a smaller salary then expected, and moving to a subdivision I wasn't interested in a year ago - I have to say that I am happy.
This evening Jaret and I sat down with our agent and builder and we were excited to start signing our lives away....and after a lot of explaining and talk we did just that. So, we're buying a house! Hurray!
It's been pretty fun thinking about the house and getting to pick our colors and stuff. After our meeting Jaret and I picked the exterior color of our house from their selection and it looks like it will be an Iron Gray with White trim. I like the contrast.
So, when are we going to be in this small contrasting beautry? We found out today that we'll probably be in before CHRISTMAS! Whew!!! I can't believe how quickly everything is happening. I am just glad that I've been thinking about and researching this house stuff for the last year or I would probably be panicking right now.
Things have really been working out for us. There have been plenty of road blocks, speed bumps, stop signs, and detours already throughout this process but overall I'm happy with where we're going and what we're getting out of life. We're very blessed and very lucky.
I'm so excited that we will get to have a small yard! Yay! I took Holland and Brooklyn over to the lot today. There are some Aspen Trees just across the trail at the end of our lot that will give a nice view and shade the backyard. It's pretty much the best view in the neighborhood. And we're only a few houses down from a small park. Yes!
Though there will unavoidably be future twists to our building process, I am super excited that we are going to be getting to our own home. I never would have imagined us here a year ago but I'm glad we are. How lucky are we?

This is SOOOO exciting for your family!! I LOVE the idea of the contrasting trim - dont forget to post some photos as your home is progressing :) I can already see the completed project draped in fairy lights for Christmas... :) *happy sigh*
Congratulations! :)
You must have been very good kids this year to be getting a house for Christmas. Our kids have been naughty enough, Santa should be taking there house away. Jk. Can't wait to visit next summer. Us Texans couldn't handle your snowy winter. ;)
