Back Yard Progress

Memorial Day Weekend was fairly was pretty mellow for us this year. I got home from Utah on Saturday evening and me and the girls gradually but quickly developed a cold on the drive home. Brooklyn even threw up in her car seat the last twenty minutes.

My husband was so sweet to come home to. He made us dinner, had the house clean, had the grocery shopping done and bought me my favorite all time movie, "You've Got Mail". I used to watch this on VHS practically every night in the summers during High School and College.

On Sunday, Jaret was so sweet to me and took such good care of me. He made me soup, let me take a long nap while keeping the kids quiet, he even went on a hunt for his favorite cold medicine but couldn't find it because all the pharmacies were closed.

He was determined to find me that medicine so we went out yesterday and found the Walmart Pharmacy open. After a while I did start feeling a lot better...which meant I had to work on the yard. I've been so excited to work on my projects and prep the yard for grass that I didn't care that everything was still muddy from our rain and snow storms.

Jaret was going on an evening mountain bike ride and suggested I put bags on my feet to check if it would be too muddy to work. The bags actually helped keep mud off of my feet. The girls came out and ran around with big mud pies dangling from their toes while I enjoyed the rustling mud free shoe covers.

My shoes wore through two sets of bags but I was able to measure, mark, and rake where my garden and fire put will go! I can't wait to get back out there today. It's still a little muddy but the sun is up and will hopefully dry a lot of it out. I'm feeling a little bit better then yesterday so we are good to go!

I took this picture this morning. Ya can't see it, but there's progress! Look in the far left corner.  There are sticks sticking up and it's been raked!  I promise!

Our beautiful view this morning.

For todays project, I'm determined to plant my garden!  I started some seeds way back in the beginning of March (I was antsy!  Back off!) Pretty sure when I was starting to try and harden my poor spindly plants I forgot them outside...twice.  Yeah, most of them didn't make it.  They look pathetic.  My peppers look good though!  I'm glad about that!  So, I will plant my sad plants as well as some seeds. Better late then never, right?

I am also going to attempt to build our fire pit.  I'm on my way to pick up the bricks now!

What a lovely backyard...and the VIEW!! :) What is the large building behind the trees? Is it a water tank?
Does this mean that you wont ever have neighbours behind you? THAT would be great! Far more private for evenings in front of your fire pit! LOL
